Ability to add tags#11

L

If you want to add tags to a block, it must correspond to an existing note or block. The ability to add other tags (e.g. to track themes) would be helpful.

Hi there, the recommended workflow would be to add a note for (e.g.) a specific theme and then use that to tag the blocks. You can also give the note a color for color-coding of the blocks. Would that solve your use-case or are you thinking of something else?

This note workaround is the solution I had found also. But it has two problems.

  1. You need to abilty to nest notes in order to organize things properly. In Arc Studio the themes, characters and locations are grouped. Technically you could also do this through tags if you didn’t want to deal with hierarchies. But you would need to be able to search and group notes by tags.
  2. Right now you cannot create a new note for a block within the board view. Yes, you can create a block note but these are special notes that you can only have one of. For storylines and characters you need multiple notes. And for regular notes, you are limited to only assigning notes that you have already created. In Arc Studio I can add a new theme to a scene right from the block. This is the ideal workflow for when you are outlining a story early on. It just makes sense to be able to create things like storylines when you are breaking the story in board view. And in general, the faster you are able to create elements from anywhere, the better. Removing all friction is the goal.
